Hear me out. This is NOT a “right wing extremist pro-gun ‘MERICA” rant.
I shoot. I own firearms. I have never shot any living thing nor do I ever have the urge to ever hunt unless I absolutely need to eat. I’ve never possessed a firearm while under the influence of any kind. I’m firearm-educated and respect them like how they should be respected since I know they have the ability to do a lot of damage. Over the years, I’ve seen stupid people, kids and adults, use them for their selfish reasons and it honestly it’s hard not to acknowledge how dangerous firearms in the wrong hands can be.
"Guns" seem to be the ONLY variable in these violent acts. All we hear about are laws against the firearms themselves when, there are larger issues at hand such as metal disorders, firearm safety, technology, and the obtaining firearm process. The first step always seems to be, ban more guns.
I know it’s hard to treat mental disorders, but there’s not been any action in even starting to help mental disorders when these type of tragedies happen. People can be crazy…period. I’d rather be in a room with a loaded bazooka than in a room with an unarmed lunatic.
I’ve noticed that it’s pretty easy to obtain a legal firearm: paperwork, payment, shallow background check (making sure you’re not a felon or wanted), and a waiting period. This process should include a more complete background check making sure you’re not crazy as shit. Add to that a gun safety class for the type of firearm you’re going to be purchasing. Obtaining a license for firearms just like for driving, etc etc. The more a normal-person knows about firearms, the more they will respect it.
We live in the age of technology. I can unlock my car and start it with a push of a few buttons and not even have to touch my keys. Why not implement a key system for firearms (keyfob or physical). Why not have an inferred sensor that doesn’t allow the gun to shoot if pointed at something living (on non-hunting type of guns). I don’t know exactly but there hasn’t been ANY push on that front when it comes to trying to prevent shootings. You’re telling me we can see a bazillion light years into space, have nano-technology that does amazing shit, CLONE animals, but we can’t install some innovative technology that makes guns safer?!
I’m just tired of seeing this obvious and lazy way of going about trying to find a solution to gun control. If guns kill people, how come there are no shootings at rod and gun ranges? Unfortunately, guns in the hands of IDIOTS/INSANE/IMMATURE people kill people. We need to stop that from happening. A firearm in the hands of a responsible, knowledgable, respectful individual is probably the best case scenario…especially when zombies attack. Too bad there’s not enough of us out there.
If you own firearms, I hope you’re safe. Lock it up not only so people cant break in and steal it, but to prevent unwanted people handling it…especially if you have kids. Don’t be crazy as shit. RESPECT IT. If you get mad, pick up an Xbox controller and rage there. And if you absolutely feel at the end of the line and nowhere else to go (which is impossible, b/c there’s always UP)….just be selfish and shoot yourself, no reason to take people with you.
